This is a huge game. Our record at Old Trafford is poor, despite winning their twice in recent years, this fixture has often haunted us. Man United have pretty much rejuvenated their season after their abysmal start, they have looked really threatening on the break, with their attacks often stemming from their midfield, which is packed with technical ability. It is once again vital, that we do not let the opposition midfield dictate the play. Their creativity will eventually overwhelm us, and we should not approach this game lightly in the middle of the park.
Therefore, once again the question lies, how many players does Antonio Conte play in the midfield. I believe it is fairly straight forward, and that he should definitely opt for a midfield trio, especially seeing as Richarlison is ruled out injured and Dejan Kulusevski is a major doubt.
Also, for the 40 odd minutes which Yves Bissouma played in, against Everton, I thought the Mali international put in a good display. He was tenacious, and on multiple occasions won us the ball back, constructing a fair few attacks. I would love to see Bissouma play a solid run of games, but in order for this to happen, he needs to take his chances.
The only concern with playing 3 in midfield is, that if one of Kane or Son isn't on their game, then it will not work. We need everyone today, we cannot have any passengers. We need to work as a unit, however that may be, and win our individual battles all over the pitch.
With Richarlison and Kulusevski missing out for the trip up to Manchester. Here is my stab at a Predicted XI for tonight.
(5-3-2) Lloris, Doherty, Romero, Dier, Lenglet, Perisic, Bentancur, Bissouma, Højbjerg, Kane, Son
This will be a really tough test, especially considering we are away from home. The fans will undoubtedly be up for it, and I'm sure their players will too. The main issue will be dealing with Man United's creativity, so pressing from the front will be a risk. Wether it's one we take, I'm not sure. In Conte we trust, COYS!
