Spurs 2-0 Marseille

Last night was a pretty average display, we struggled to penetrate the Marseille defence and didn't pose much of a threat at all, really. I thought there was a lot of sloppy passing and we looked very lethargic when constructing attacks. It wasn't until the 60th minute or so, where we finally started to increase the tempo.

Saying this, Marseille didn't really scare us either. This seems to have been a common occurrence this season. In spells, we haven't attacked teams with much intent, but we also have not let them create a lot either. Conte made the decision to keep all our attacking players on the pitch, and add an extra one to the mix, in Kulusevski. He changed the game. In a really low quality spectacle, Kulusevski provided the drive and creativity which the game was crying out for. Every time the Swede received the ball, he was attempting to cause problems, and really take the game to the opposition.

Richarlison, once again proved that he is shaping up to be an unbelievable signing. The Brazilian grabbed a brace on his Champions League debut, which was only his second start for Spurs. We finally have someone who can add a different dynamic to our play. A lot of the time last season, Kane was dropping deep into pockets but we had no one to latch onto the end of the crosses which were constantly being fired into the box. Richarlison provides that aerial presence which we often lose when Kane is taking up a play making position else where. This will be pivotal at times this season, as seen last night.

I wasn't very happy with the performance, but we got the job done, as we have done on numerous occasions this season. We have a really tough game on the weekend. I'm sure everybody knows who it's against. I'm not expecting anything from it whatsoever, but I have full faith in Conte. He knows what he is doing.
