A much improved second half display. Although we weren’t especially great in the first half, we limited Wolves to a scarce amount of chances, and that’s what you have to do. The great teams hang in there when they aren’t at their best, and that’s what we did. Then, in the second half, we dominated, we really should have scored more than one. Even though we didn’t, we still managed the game out comfortably. Richarlison looked bright when he came on, and was a handful for the Wolves defenders. Perisic impressed on his debut, and Kulusevski showed us his capabilities once again.

A shoutout to Davinson Sanchez who is proving to be a really reliable back up to Romero (touch wood.) The Colombian put in another really solid display, dealing with whatever was thrown at him relatively comfortably. Next to him, Emerson Royal continued his improved run of form, putting in another solid display, maybe he will prove a few fans wrong this season, with many found wanting the Brazilian out of the door this summer. His link up with Dejan Kulusevski on the right hand side was particularly noticeable today, they seemed to be on the same wavelength time and time again, playing off each other really fluently.
In the midfield, Pierre Emile Højbjerg was everywhere. The 27 year old put in a real shift, which was summed up nicely with a surging run deep into the Wolverhampton half with 4 minutes to go. His partner in crime, Rodrigo Bentancur was a little off the pace in the first half, but seemed to be back to his old self in the second, starting a fair few of our attacks with one of his signature line breaking passes.
Up top, Heung Min Son wasn’t at his best, despite an improvement in the second half, striking the post and putting the decisive corner in for the goal, Sonny was replaced by Richarlison shortly after, who was a real live wire towards the end. Sonny will be back to his best soon, he is a thorough professional, and I have no doubt he will be back to his best in the near future.

As for the other forwards, it was a really positive afternoon, and especially a ‘record breaking’ one. Kane grabbed Tottenham’s 1000th home premier league goal, whilst scoring his 250th goal in Spurs colours and his 185th premier league goal, making him the top goal scorer in premier league history for one club. A day to remember for a memorable player and undoubtedly one of the game’s greats.

There’s a long way to go in the season, I would like to see us start games a bit faster, but that will come with time. I’d expect one more addition to the squad, given the potential outgoings, and then we’re ready for the season. It will be full of ups and downs, but I’m excited for what’s ahead, COYS!
